A rumor that spread online in June 2025, claims that Fox News has added false sounds to the enlightenment of the moments leading to the speech of US President Donald Trump, in honor of the 250th anniversary of the Washington Army, which is supposed to seem more. The speech followed a military parade held on June 14.
For example, on June 15, a Tiktok user posted a video (archived), entitled “PBS vs Fox”, allegedly comparing the programs from PBS News and Fox News, and claims that the latter added “False applause”. The video received more than 1.3 million views. The user’s post (archived) with the same video – including Tiktok’s watermark – has received over 280,000 views. This was restored (archived) by another filament user and received over 3.1 million views.
In other words, users virally share rumors, including Bluesky, Facebook, Instagram (archived), reddit, threads (Archived), Tiktok (Archived) and X (Archived) and YouTube.
However, Snops determined that this rumor that Fox News deceitly added that it was not incorrectly invited to applauded sounds was incorrect. Consumer publications lacked a decisive context, mainly the fact that PBS News and other prominent media also hosted YouTube videos involving strong cheers.
By email, FOX News spokesman said that their networks used two audio-video emissions for the event, including a “network pool”, which contain less sound applause and other emission marked with America250, which is the source of the audio with a stronger awee. Speaking of the rumors, the spokesman said, “This is a gross fake spread and nothing has changed.”
Snopes sent an email to PBS News to ask if they want to comment on this hearing.
