A word form the artist:

The Bongos were one of the first bands to emerge from the
Hoboken/Maxwell’s scene of the early Eighties. Their popularity (and the
fact that they proudly always called themselves a “Hoboken band,” and
didn’t say they were from NYC like so many other NJ acts from that era)
was a huge inspiration to me when I started Jersey Beat fanzine.

Patti Smith – who grew up in South Jersey, and whose band had ties to the early New Brunswick scene – was another important early influence to me.
